Vancouver BC Extended Stays
Vancouver, British Columbia is Western Canada's version of
bright lights, big city. Metropolitan Vancouver boasts a
population of 2.4 million with over half its residents
speaking a first language other than English - testament to
the amazing cosmopolitan nature of this sparkling metropolis.
But several other factors put Vancouver on the map as a
premier destination...
The city's parks are some of the finest in the world, from the
quarry-turned sunken gardens of Queen Elizabeth Park to the
acres and acres of lush rainforest trails that comprise
Pacific Spirit Regional Park to downtown's famed Stanley Park
with its zoo and aquarium. Yet they are almost outdone by the
city's beaches. The secluded beauty of Wreck Beach, the
stylish, suburban charm of Jericho and Kitsilano Beach, the
lively buzz of the West End's English Bay... Rain or shine,
this is a city that has learned to reconcile its concrete
skyscrapers with the beautiful nature that surrounds them.
Vancouver is also famous for its entertainment. With the end
of the rainy season comes the beginning of a festival calendar
that is packed with events appealing to the whole family such
as the Vancouver Children's Festival, the Vancouver Folk Music
Festival and the Vancouver International Jazz Festival... but
by far the most unique are the Bard on the Beach Shakespeare
Festival and the Symphony of Fire. Bard on the Beach utilizes
2 tents in Vanier Park (yes another great city park!) to
perform Shakespeare's famous plays to delighted audiences all
summer. The Symphony of Fire competition sees thousands of
Vancouverites packing the downtown streets and beaches as
China, the USA and Canada showcase amazing firework displays
to simulcast music. Another favourite is an age-old Vancouver
tradition called Theatre Under the Stars, a company that has
been performing favourite musicals in Stanley Park's Malkin
Bowl for over 100 years.
It's Vancouver's distinct neighbourhoods that bestow upon the
city its unique, eclectic charm. East of the city centre,
Chinatown, the second largest of its kind in North America, is
a living, breathing tribute to the vast Asian population who
call this city home. Kitsilano's Broadway Street and East
Vancouver's Commercial Drive are much the same for the city's
Greek and Italian communities. Under the Granville Street
Bridge in False Creek, sits Granville Island, a quaint hub for
artists, artisans and appreciators of micro-brewed beer. Just
across the creek in downtown, the uber-trendy neighbourhood of
Yaletown is a favourite haunt with young professionals and the
nouveau riche at large. Feel like a trip in time? Gastown is
the cobbled, old town quarter crammed studios, pubs and
apparently, its share of ghosts.
Shopping? The shopping in this city would impress a New
Yorker. In fact, swanky Robson Street with its high-end
boutiques and designer outlets can keep your party's Carrie
Bradshaw happy for days. Just a few blocks over, Holt Renfrew
in Pacific Centre is more of the same, but bargain-hunters
need only jump on the Skytrain for a quarter of an hour to
find themselves in Burnaby's Metrotown Mall, the second
largest in Canada. In fact, the food court here alone is
bigger than some malls...
Whatever your expectations, Vancouver will fulfill them.
That's why our extended stay accommodations are just as
diverse. Welcome to our favourite metropolis.
